RIDE TO MAMMOTH POOLS

Our first official ride, on Saturday, September 17th was a rumbling success.  We had nine bikes and 13 people.  Attending were Ron and Joan Smith, Jim and Sandy Williamson, Erick Karr, Ken Noble, Mark Grogan, Ron Cummings, William and Barbara Whitehead, Jack Jines and his grandson Nathan Jines.

Ron Smith gave the pre-ride prayer and we left the Good ‘Ol Daze at 9:30.  It was still cool and the leathers felt pretty good.

The ride up Mammoth Pools Road is a biker dream with fantastic scenery and plenty of curves.  We made two rest stops on the way up which made all the bladders happy. J

We arrived at the little store and restaurant at Mammoth Pools and found only one person in attendance, but she was gracious and with a smile she went to the grill and fixed a great hamburger for everyone.  I was surprised at how quickly she did it.  I goofed as I was supposed to call ahead and let them know we were coming.  See, prior to what most of you thought, I am not perfect after all, but almost.  Ha Ha.  (The typist wonders where Jack got the notion everyone thought he was perfect!)

After leaving Mammoth Pool we headed over Grizzly Pass.  This is a one lane road that goes to two lanes on the curves, but you must still be a bit careful as sometimes a pickup truck will come speeding around corners sharing your lane.

Grizzly Pass comes out a Beasore only about one mile from Joneses store where we again made a rest stop.  From Joneses store we rode down the mountain to Bass Lake and Good ‘Ol Days.  I think a good time was had by all.

Don’t forget the upcoming ride to Jamestown on Tuesday, September 27th.  This ride is always a favorite as it has a lot of restaurants for eats and novelty stores for shopping.
